Regina Dominican will send a relay team, a high jumper and a triple jumper to the IHSA State Track and Field Finals in Charleston, Illinois.
The 4x100 relay team of Haneefa Adam, Kendall Williams, Sara Byrne, and Tamia Quach
captured first place at the IHSA Carmel Catholic Sectional with a time of 50.86 seconds. This time set a new school record, beating their previous time of 51.96, set at the GCAC Championships earlier this season. Incidentally, the time of 51.96 placed first among all participants (both divisions) at the GCAC Championships.
Adam and Williams both had additional success outside of the relay team. Williams finished 2nd at the Sectional in the long jump, going 17’2”. This marks the 2nd straight state finals appearance for Williams, as she qualified in the long jump in 2021.
Adam won the triple jump, going 36’11” Adam has been consistently in the top 5
of Class 2A in the triple jump throughout the season.
Class 2A State begins on Friday, with the finals slated to be on Saturday.
