Regina Dominican Cross Country Team Advances to State Finals

Wilmette, IL – The Regina Dominican cross country team advanced to the IHSA State Finals based on their 5th place finish at the IHSA Sectional that took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024. 

Four Panthers finished in the top 50.

Nora McCabe ‘25 led the way with a 25th place finish.  McCabe finished with a time of 20:55.

This marks the first time since the 2014 season that the Panthers will be going to the State Finals.

 

It has been quite a season for the Panthers cross country team.  The team won their first ever ISL Championship, with 4 Panthers earning all conference honors, (Niamh Byrne ‘28, Nora McCabe ‘25, Charlotte Kroll ‘25, Lulu Tamayo ‘28).  The team also won the Elmwood Park Invitational.

 

This will also be the 4th straight year that McCabe has reached the IHSA State Finals.  She qualified as an individual in 2023, 2022, and 2021. She is the first Panther to ever accomplish this feat.

 

The IHSA State Finals will be Saturday, November 9th at Detweiller Park in Peoria.  The first race will begin at 9AM.  Fans are encouraged to arrive early as parking is a challenge.
