Regina Dominican Varsity Basketball IHSA Regional Champions
Wilmette, IL- The Regina Dominican Varsity basketball team played Cristo Rey St. Martin on Thursday, February 20, 2025, for the IHSA Regional Championship.
Under the leadership of Coach Bob Newton, the Panthers' hard work, commitment, and passion for the game have propelled them to this remarkable achievement. The regional final saw a high-energy game against Cristo Rey St. Martin, with a final score of 64-20.
"What an exciting time for fans of Regina Dominican basketball. While each season has its own lessons, 4 regionals in a row is no easy feat,” stated Regina Dominican Athletic Director, Brian Mancuso. “Congratulations to all the coaches and players on this accomplishment. Best of luck to the Panthers as they continue their postseason journey."
Last year, the Panthers made a state appearance, the first time in 20 years the team had reached the final four. With a few roster updates this year, the Panthers have had an impressive season. The win tonight is IHSA Regional Championship #18 for the program. This will be the first time since 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985 that the Panthers have won 4 IHSA Regional Championships in a row.
Regina Dominican High School’s Varsity Basketball team now advances to the IHSA Sectional Tournament, with eyes on making another appearance at the IHSA State Finals. The Panthers play in the Christ the King Sectional on Tuesday, Feb. 25th at 6:00 pm against Latin. The Sectional final will be Thursday, Feb. 27th at 6:30 pm at Christ the King.
